I don't see what the big deal is, it's a composer who worked in midi files for most of his career. It's not like you're missing Sergei Prokofiev in concert.

Meh, Sergei Prokofiev didn't write One Winged Angel (which Uematsu says is intended to be a fusion of Igor Stravinsky and Jimi Fucking Hendrix) or any of a number of other kickass pieces. Not to mention that the man has done plenty of non-midi work, including taking the old midi stuff and remixing it into pure awesomeness.

I, for one, am thoroughly pleased and excited.

Exactly, except (for me) his best work was Dancing Mad which, when performed orchestrally, can be fucking EPIC.

EDIT: Also, the Black Mages' live version, which includes the final (Kefka) tier that was missing from the first link. It also includes liberal amounts of EPIC WIN.

Oh yes, we can't forget Dancing Mad. Whoever would have thought an insane clown could have such an awesome final battle theme?

nerd, nerd, nerd.

He did not however write Alexander Nevsky No. 79, among others. Oh sure, doll over a mere video game composer and ignore actual greatness. Unwashed masses indeed.

Just because I happen to like a video game composer doesn't mean I don't appreciate the greats. Thing is, most of them are dead and thus I can't actually meet them. So unless you've got some kind of zombie reanimation serum that'll make it so I can find Prokofiev and whoever else and shake their hand and tell them how awesome their music is, I think I'll have to settle for this.

Also, how exactly does the fact that it's for video games make the music inherently inferior? Music is music, regardless of its source or what it's used in. John Williams is another world reknowned composer, does the fact that most of his stuff is for movies make him somehow inferior as well? I really don't see how this is supposed to work.

John Williams is another world renowned composer, does the fact that most of his stuff is for movies make him somehow inferior as well?

And let's not forget the songs he composed for the Olympics, such as The Olympic Spirit (1988), Summon the Heroes (1996), and Call of the Champions (2002)

...oh, yeah. And The Mission for NBC Nightly News Beat. Sure, that, too.

Just thought I'd put this out. You know. Whatever.

I recognize that you don't legally have to tell anyone that you are pregnant until you are about ready to have your baby if you don't want to.

And I realize that you are also one of those incredibly fortunate people who doesn't show AT ALL. Trust me, I know. We were all floored to hear that not only were you pregnant but that you were due in less than a month. You really do not look it at all. Your fleecey jacket is great at hiding your very miniscule bump. Seriously, I know many a pregnant lady that would be outright jealous of how you are carrying.

But when *I* am the person who has to cover for you, Branch Lab Micro Girl, and we work in entirely separate buildings and I keep talking about you taking time off, the proper response is NOT, "Oh, I will never take any time off."

Because, hello, you are pregnant. YES, YOU FUCKING WILL. IT IS CALLED "MATERNITY LEAVE" and NO ONE ever doesn't take it.

Especially including you since, today, you were all, "Yeah, I'd like to take six weeks."

You know, as your direct supervisor, *I* HAVE THINGS I NEED TO PLAN FOR. Now, I cannot take my own planned time off. I am going to have to pull SEVEN day work weeks. For two months. And if you go into labor early, WE ARE ALL FUCKED because the only other microbiologist in the company is taking a week and a half right before your due date - a vacation I would never have approved if you HAD ONLY GONE, "OH HEY, BY THE WAY, I AM PREGGERS!"

GAH.
