I am a college graduate and an IT professional currently working in server support for a major corporation. Web design and programming have always been my favorite areas of computer science; I have been designing and running websites for almost as long as I've been online, ten years and counting. I started writing relatively recently, first with original work, then branching into fanfiction to develop and hone my skills.

As a writer, I have long searched for a community that brings fanfiction and original work together on even ground. There are many excellent writing sites online, but I've found many of them to be too specialized, too inactive, too far removed from their original goals, or mere collections of stories with no real community to interact with. I wanted a place where I could feel at home, where I could grow as a writer and help encourage others to grow as well, no matter the subject of our work. I also noticed several writers hoping to post artwork alongside their stories, but I have yet to come across a site that offers such a service.

Finally, I took it upon myself to build the kind of online community I was looking for. After months of planning and a full year of development, dotmoon.net was opened to the public on January 6, 2006. The current incarnation of the site is based on an open-source forum by Simple Machines, which I adapted to serve the needs of the .moon community. The Library and Gallery were constructed entirely from scratch, as were many of the little features you may find around .moon. This site was my first project using PHP/MySQL. It is in a constant state of change as I find ways to make .moon better.

As administrator of .moon, my priorities are:

• Maintenance. I make my best effort to solve problems as quickly as possible once they are identified. It is very important to me that everyone be able to enjoy this site to the fullest.
  
  
• Fairness. Rules are enforced universally without prejudice of friendship or history. This site was founded with that principle in mind and I am hoping it will become a long-standing tradition.
  
  
• Simplicity. I try to make the site and its functions as user-friendly as possible. I do my best to make everything self-explanatory, and to provide clear documentation for complicated processes.
