It had been two weeks since this tiny thing had stung him on his bed, which was supposed to be comfortable. No one he questioned among the maids and ladies owned the odd but elegant looking piece. It was as if someone had given him the earring using magic, having snapped it out of thin air, and 'pop' there it was. "Who are you?" he watched the swinging earring. If only he could find the owner, he could find out what happened a fortnight ago. But for now, it would remain a mystery. He really had considered this mission impossible. It would be quite a challenging one, for he had to track down a woman out of who knew how many, never conscious that this hide and seek search was fruitless. Holding a girl's earring in the palm of his hand, it felt like he had asked a quarter of the entire female population if they were missing such a unique possession. He was embarrassed, but nothing was more embarrasing than asking them to show him their. He was not that low, neither was he a pervert. He was not even like that, not at all: absolutely, positively, utterly a no. The door swung open with an abrupt crash and the young prince almost fell off the couch. Slipping the earring behind his back, Prince Endymion scowled at the culprit by the name Jadeite for causing his heart to leap a thousand miles out of his chest. There, at the entrance, barging in, was General Jadeite, one of the four generals who served his closest friend, His Royal Highness, Endymion of Earth. "Your Highness," the second voice coming behind the first man was that of the General of wisdom, General Kunzite. Unlike his over-friendly comrade, the obedient and loyal guardian bowed as a sign of courtesy. "Please, Kunzite. No formalities here." the ebony haired prince stayed the same position as before, one leg crossed over his knee and his arms folded. He hated being called by the title, but hey, this was not a situation where formality was needed since all had been close since they were toddlers. "That is what we have been telling him," another voice called, the figure of a handsome General by the name of Nephrite, who had a passion for astrology and for baking. Now, that was one thing you did not see in most of the men of that time. "Yeah, Your Royal Highness Endymion," mocked Zoisite, an effeminate looking man, but with a compassionate heart. He was also an avid book lover. Uh-huh, nope, he was definitely not a she, despite looking like a girl, but no, he was not. Oh, had it been mentioned that Zoisite loved to wear his hair long? "Just out with it, boys." Endymion's voice held a strong note of frustration as he released a deep sigh. He really did not mind their usual 'barging in to his room' routine, but not when he had something on his mind. He wished to keep this to himself for now. "'Out with' what?" Jadeite asked with deliberate intent. Of course he knew what his prince and friend meant, but if that meant ruining the fun he had now, well, he would just keep pretending he did not know a thing. "I presume you have some news for me from my parents, perhaps?" "Would you believe me if I say we came to visit you as a friend?" "No," Endymion deadpanned his answer to Zoisite's 'good' intentioned comment. Zoisite forged a pained, saying. "Oh, I am hurt. Our prince does not consider us his friends..." "Your Highness, we were ordered by His Majesty and Her Highness to help you regarding the arrival of Her Grace, Princess Serenity, and her four guardians this coming week." "Princess... Who?" it was no wonder the information had slipped from his mind. He had forgotten his upcoming marriage to the princess by that name, considering he was so preoccupied with his own thoughts. He groaned at the said name. Wait an Earth moment... Did Kunzite say what he thought he said? "They will be arriving here this week?" "Yes, Endymion," Jadeite seemed ticked off by the question. What was the matter with Endymion lately? Why did he want them to repeat every word they said? Had not he heard the news? It had been all over the palace for a whole week now and upon the lips of all his subjects throughout the kingdom. "For Earth's sake, where had you been for the past week? Daydreaming?" "I am not. I am just..." Endymion was lost for words, feeling insulted by the comment. Recovering himself, he was about to strike back, stopping himself in time. He could not let them know what he had been doing for the past two weeks, and on that night. He would like to keep that to himself, thank you very much. "I think it is more than that, Endymion." unsatisfied with Endymion's poor excuse, Zoisite and the others joined Jadeite and began their own interrogation of the annoyed prince. ---------- Across the void of space far away from the blue planet, a group of five girls gathered within the Moon Palace. They sat talking amongst themselves inside the royal bed chamber of Princess Serenity. They were having a heated conversation concerning their very first visit to the planet Earth. The best friends of the future ruler of the Moon valued each of them with great affection. She smiled upon each: the princesses of Mercury, Venus, Mars and Jupiter. Each face lit up with enthusiasm; all looking forward to setting foot upon the planet of which it was said to have the most breathtaking gardens. "Is there anything bothering you, Sere-chan?" Princess Rei was as enthusiastic as the others in the room, but her princess was acting so out of character today. Serenity was not as enthusiastic as they were; neither was she her usual self. She would have worn a cheerful and sweet smile on her face at the opportunity to visit the long awaited planet and its gardens. Those familiar with the princess's nature would know she was the brightest girl ever known to have lived on the Moon. She had noted the change in Serenity's personality for some time now, but shrugged it off, thinking the betrothal had caused it. "No, no," Princess Serenity answered a little too quickly. She could not let the Princess of Mars know she had been caught off guard by her question, or had she? "I am perfectly fine." Princess Rei knew all too well the face that hid behind that mask, and why would not she know? Thanks to the predestination that amalgamated them, Rei saw right through her lies. "Speaking of which, Rei-chan, who was the man who we caught you speaking to?" "I do not know what you are talking about, Mako-chan." the raven haired princess amazed herself at how she managed to take hold of a conversation she was only half listening to, not missing a beat to answer the question asked by her high pony tailed friend, Makoto of Jupiter. "Nice try, Rei-chan," said a blonde princess with a big red bow, grinning from cheek to cheek. She was none other than the princess of Venus, Minako, also the one to explain to the princess with two Odangos on top, who had a confused expression on her pretty face. "It was General Jadeite, Minako-chan." Ami, the princess from planet Mercury, corrected the name misspelled by Princess Minako. 'And who the Mercurian was General Jade?' she thought with a sweat drop. To the girls, their priority for now was not about who Rei had met, but was to decide how to best prepare themselves for the trip to Earth that day. -- End of Chapter 2 --
