IT'S A NEW FIC One sort of panoramic view of Crystal Tokyo was reserved for but a few. Atop the Crystal Palace's central tower was an enormous fountain, surrounded by a garden filled with dozens of plants. And all of that beauty was encased beneath a protective done of crystalline substance. Thin as glass, but tougher than Kevlar. From her private booth in a local cafe, Setsuna found herself idly wondering what it must be like to walk around there, on the inside looking out. Since that garden was restricted to all but the cats, the Inner Senshi and the royal family, no one knew what it was like to walk around up there. Setsuna herself had been up there only a handful of times. The Timegate was naturally where she was required to be. Or rather, had once been required. Fact of the matter was that with the entire Nemesis attack already a century behind them, there was little else for her to do. The Timegate was in a near dormant state. There were no impending paradoxes, no fluctuations in the time stream. It was wonderfully, madly quiet. And so with a guiltless conscience Setsuna was spending her days touring what she'd dubbed 'the future at the end of the world.' Crystal Tokyo had once been all that existed upon the face of the planet. But with the need to set right the chain of events leading up to Nemesis no longer present, other crystal cities were being built. Crystal London and Crystal Shanghai were already up and running. Upon the former Manhatten Island, the downtown core of Crystal York was about 50% completed. No longer confined to the borders of Crystal Tokyo, humanity was starting to bloom once more. WITH NEW THREATS But with such wondrous expansion also came deadly risks. Setsuna wrapped her palms around her cup of coffee, letting her palms warm up. "Miss?" Magenta eyes looked up at a waitress who was pushing along a dessert tray, moving from table to table. A young girl dressed in a white, frilled apron smiled prettily. "Miss, do you want to order something else? A dessert, perhaps?" Setsuna shook her head. "I'm not into sweets." "Oh. Ano...this package just arrived for you. At least I think it's for you; the note said to give it to a woman with long dark hair like emeralds, and there was a red rose on--" "Yes, that's me," Setsuna replied. She smiled to placate the girl's nervousness. This seemed to be her first day on the job. "I've been expecting a package, thank you." AND NEW ENEMIES The exchange was made. And just to make the waitress feel better, Setsuna purchased a chocolate croissant. Alone once again in her private booth, she inspected her delivery. It was a small, black computer that was easily palm-sized. Making a quick glance around the cafe to see no one was looking, Setsuna discreetly took out an earphone and hooked it into the palmtop. Once the screen was lifted, it flickered to life and displayed an all too familiar logo. "Ohayo gozaimasu," came a familiar male voice. She knew it to be Endymion's. "Your mission of love and justice, should you choose to accept it, is to locate this author." A photograph of His lordship Chaos making kissy faces suddenly appeared on the screen. BUT THERE'S STILL ONE SENSHI YOU CAN COUNT ON. "His lordship Chaos, the man responsible for planning that ridiculous fanfic 'When Magical Girls Go Wrong', is looking to make a sequel. Naturally if he succeeds, this can only lead to a mass hysteria amongst magical girl otaku everywhere. Your task, Setsuna, is to find him and stop him before he can release the sequel. You have full authority to use any means necessary. Just stop that fic from being posted. "For your team, you can choose any two members from either the Outer Senshi or the Asteriod Quartet. As always, if you or any member of your Messiah: Impossible team is captured or killed, Neo Queen Serenity and her court will disavow any knowledge of your actions, and not resurrect you." THIS SPRING, ENTER THE DRAGQUEEN.... Setsuna still remained uncertain as to how much Endymion informed his wife and queen about the IMF's various activities. The existence of the Inners was common knowledge throughout the entire world. But in the history books there were no mentions or traces of the Outers or the Quartet. To this end, Endymion had established the Impossible Messiahs Force (IMF) to deal with any enemies or threats to the utopia and its rulers. The only ones qualified to pull off such missions had to be both soldiers and ghosts. And His lordship Chaos' newest magical girl parody certainly fell into that category. To think this maniac of an author was loose and writing fics again.... "This message will self destruct in five seconds," came an automated female voice. "Ja!" A large puff of black smoke suddenly wafted out from the rear vent, and the palmtop's sound card suddenly proclaimed, "Stage Out!" Setsuna had to smirk at Endymion's cute albeit twisted sense of humour. Though it was a half-hearted smirk, given the daunting challenge of her task. She closed the cover for the palmtop before slipping it into her purse. A few bills were laid out to pay for her coffe and croissant, as well as a generous tip for her waitress. She'd accept this impossibly messianic mission to protect Crystal Tokyo. Not to mention their reputations and integrity. And she already had a good idea of who to select for this operation....
