Tipping the elegant glass back deeply, Kunzite inhaled the bubbly liquid and allowed himself to swirl it around his tongue disapprovingly. Lunarian alcohol was light and fruity, a sure resemblance of the people who heartily drank it, but it failed miserably when one wanted to get himself good and drunk. Heaving a heavy sigh, Kunzite snatched yet another glass from a passing waiter and without thinking, drained it in one shot.
He was leaning comfortably against a pillar in the oversized ballroom, absentmindedly watching his prince laugh heartily as he glided the Moon Princess through the throng of people. Resisting the urge to grind his teeth in annoyance, Kunzite permitted the fruity substance to ease down his throat.
“Good evening General.” His gaze easily shifted from the throng of people to the bubbly blonde beside him. She smiled infuriatingly, a knowing look in her dazzling blue eyes.
He dipped his head in response. “Lady Venus.”
Venus lowered her gaze to the light colored substance in his hand. “My, my, general,” she teased shamelessly, swaying her hips enticingly. “I’d have thought that a man like you would be drinking something much,” and she squeezed his bicep for extra measure, “heavier.”
His eyebrow raised in response. “I was unaware that there was something with a bit more... substance… available.”
“All you have to do is ask.” She winked seductively and with the hand that was behind her back, pulled out a shimmering green bottle with gold wrapping. “Hmm..“ Venus sighed pleasurably as she unclasped the top and breathed in the sweet aroma. “Nothing like Jovian matured mead.”
If she noticed that he was staring at her rather plump chest, she didn’t show it. Instead, she continued on placing the bottle in his large hands and then with her right hand, ran it softly through his soft, thick, hair. “I always thought a good drink was like a good woman,” Venus leaned in and whispered in his ear and all of a sudden Kunzite felt both dizzy and happy and wondered if he was indeed drunk, “tasteful and intoxicating.”
Venus pulled back and smiled widely and pointed to the bottle but he only had eyes for her. “Enjoy yourself general. Goodnight.” And with that, she turned on her heel and sauntered away catching the eye of every man she passed by.
It took Kunzite a few seconds of shaking his head to lose the spell Venus cast over him. Feeling tricked and now frustrated, he took a heavy swig of the mead and headed out into the courtyard.
