The days were getting colder, and winter had cast its blanket of silvery-white over Juuban Prefecture. The giant Christmas tree was over thirty meters high, it looked stunning under the large silvery moon overhead.

Mamoru felt the golden swirls around his hands buzzing as he concentrated, this would be the last Christmas they’d celebrate before the ice claimed this world in a deep sleep and they’d all reawaken in the 30th century. He wanted to make this Christmas special for all of Juuban, his family and friends helping to make their season’s wishes come true.

So lost in his thoughts was he that when he opened his eyes again, Mamoru found that the tree had grown until it was more than fifty meters high. It was huge, its base surrounded by an assortment of colorful roses, these resistant to the cold. The branches bedecked with layers of fresh snow gave the tree an almost tinsel lining courtesy of the moonlight.

“At least it rivals Tokyo Tower, they’ll see it all over Tokyo!” he chuckled to himself.

He smiled, knowing Usagi would love it and suddenly he had a thought.

“Oh Mamo-chan! It is beautiful,” she said, her hands warmed by her pink bunny mittens, arms and odango flailing as she bounced up and down like an excited schoolgirl, squeeing and she hugged him, careful of her little bulge. She felt Chibi-Usa kick the moment their lips met.

“I knew you’d like it, Usako!” he chuckled, lifting her up and spinning her around, setting her down in the snowy carpet and they kissed again, but with a gentle fire that was long and languid.

“Like it,” she breathed, “I adore it, and its Soooo high! Tell ya what, hold on, there’s nobody here… Moon Affinity Power Transform!”

Unazuki gasped at the site and the revelation.

“Tsukino Usagi…is Sailor Affinity Moon!”

“I am dreaming, Unazuki, tell me please that I fell over, hit my head and this is all a dream, a crazy, pretty, adorable dream… isn’t it?”

“Nope, not a dream girlfriend cause I’m seeing it too!” she giggled, and pulled her friend lower, the last thing they needed was to be discovered. “It is all quite real and we’ve got front row seats, now hush!” she whispered, eyes wide as her friend’s as they rested on their haunches, craning their necks to watch the crystal winged super heroine do her magic.

Not only did the girls believe in miraculous trees, but a pregnant Sailor Moon? Yes, and the small round tummy didn’t detract from her ability to leap in a single bound to the top of said tree. She carried a crystal star, and a reel of tinsel with other decorative items, first, she set the bejeweled star in place before flying in a spiral around the Christmas tree sticking decorations and winding the tinsel of red, gold, silver and green around its girth in elaborate patterns. Then, she placed the faery lights so they shone evenly upon the array of branches.

“There!” she cried out in satisfaction, and jumped in a graceful arc to the ground, landing lightly in the powdery snow before… Tuxedo Kamen.

Unazuki blinked, and both girls knew.

“Tux is Mamoru! Holy Edward Cullen!” she breathed and Unazuki giggled as Veronica’s mouth dropped. Unazuki placed a snowflake on her friend’s tongue and waved her hands in front of her face, but she was oblivious to Unazuki’s attempts to bring Veronica out of her torpor.

“By the Kamis! Mamoru-kun, or should I say, Tuxedo Kamen has magical powers, I didn’t think I’d ever say this, but I believe… in magic! He’s like a Christmas elf…” Unazuki muttered, continuing to watch with her friend, an American exchange student, who beat her mittens together to ward off the cold and shake off the snowflakes.

“Yeah, I see what you mean, he’s handsome, too…” Veronica got that glazed look in her eyes, one Unazuki knew only too well.

“Forget it girlfriend, he’s married to Tsukino Usagi, the Bunny, as she is affectionately known by her friends.”

“Dangit, all the cute guys are spoken for, but I won’t give up finding my own hero!”

Unazuki giggled and shook her head, “You’re a case...you know that?”

“Wow! We better head off home, they’re de-transforming and doing more of that…kissing thing,” Veronica blushed.

“Okay, let’s go, I got to wrap the last of my presents and help Miro-san with the baking for tomorrow,” Veronica said, and the two scurried off into the night.

“Hey Mamoru!” Minako shouted, running towards an enraptured young man as he looked to the top of the tree lost in thought. “You, trying to break the Guinness Book of DVDs for the biggest Christmas tree, or something?”

“Nah… I was just daydreaming is all, but you’re quite right, that’s big enough and its records,” he laughed.

“Huh? I thought it was a forest pine… Oh, I get it, you’re going to play a stereo from the top of that tree, wicked cool!”

“Minako! Mamoru was talking about… er, forget it,” Artemis groused, his ears dipping in resignation. It wasn’t as if he weren’t used to it. Minako looked like a cute little faery, and he the fur-lined snowflake would keep her in line, making sure there was enough food for them. He had asked Makoto to prepare the food for the Christmas dinner: the turkey, chicken, roasted vegetables, gravy and other condiments. Of course, she would bring with her, many baked treats, especially her shortbread cookies and other goodies that would tantalize their taste buds. He especially looked forward to the pudding and custard, not to mention the ice cream later that day.

‘Dangit, I’m getting hungry just thinking about it,’ Artemis mused.

Mamoru laughed with Minako, as she crouched to stroke her guardian behind the ears, and he began to purr. Mamoru knew the people would enjoy this and flock here to study the grand tree decorated with thousands of lights, candy and presents. The children of the orphanage the first to claim their gifts and he would see to it these were delivered into their arms personally. He would watch as woolen-gloved hands were removing the colorful paper from the countless boxes and parcels. Usagi and himself would entertain the children, he as a Tux version of Santa Clause, and his Usako as Lady Christmas. The senshi would be there, wearing Santa hats and handing out hampers filled with lots of food for the festive season and it would be a wonderful time for all.

“All right, Rei’s here with the girls, Mamoru, and here comes Aki, Shingo and Usagi’s family,” Luna said, pawing at the snow.

“Merry Christmas children of Juuban Prefecture! I am the Pretty Suited Soldier of not only love and justice,” she giggled, setting off the girls, and the Shitennou were also chuckling, “But, as Santa Clause’s official representative, I declare this a magical Christmas with lots of gifts for some very special kids…and that means you!”

The children were clapping, and a little girl ran towards Moon for a cuddle.

“Awe, isn’t she so good with them?” Mercury said, grinning at Jupiter and Venus.

“She’s a natural,” Venus said, as the children all rugged up ran knee high in snow to the rise where Sailor Moon knelt to hug and fuss over each child and Tuxedo Kamen would point his staff to a gift, to sweets and other treasures and it would appear in the arms of the intended recipient.

“And young man, one for you and your pretty sisters,” he loved this, and the looks of joy and awe on their young faces. “I have for all you guys, a Sailor Moon and Tux Tee-shirt each, with a rose, the crescent wand and the Shitennou and Senshi on these others, but where them in the spring guys, its way too cold right now,” he said as the local media filmed the event now beamed across the world and beyond.

“Yes Tuxedo Kamen-sama,” one little girl said as she hugged him and everyone smiled.

Crystal Tokyo 30th Century

It was a special family day at the Crystal Palace, and one they always treasured as they watched the Juuban Christmas ritual hosted by Sailor Moon, Tuxedo Kamen and the others. Every Christmas they would sit with Chibi-Usa and the children of the Senshi and Shitennou watching the joy of the children of Juuban opening their gifts via the holographic presentation. Some things luckily never change.
