Poetry Corner: Absolution by echo

Summary:Just something I wrote one day.
Absolution

lingering and lost are ghosts of angels
tiny fairies reminiscent of god
drifting through wastes of minds
phantoms of happier times,
things that should have been
lingering are echoes that never spoke
laughter unheard except in heaven
cherub creatures composed of pieces of souls
souls lost and lingering for absolution

heinous fears are chains, falling heavy links
maddening insecurities and sickening shames
past night terrors and newly dashed dreams
lingering lost ghosts picking up pieces
of hopes and dreams, souls they’d forgotten
dotted by drops of blood from martyred gods
tiny cherubs innocent except in their purpose
to haunt the living dead and dying as reminders
of what should have been and is lost

reminders that second chances do not come in life
no golden moment comes twice in its perfection
every one lost is another fragment of a broken heart
littering the way before and behind them
glass embedded in my feet, the blood and pain
more welcome than the way I must go
i would take the past with me, every painful shard
every heavy angry ragged link digging in my skin
for the second chance, for the glue to put it back

i would meet you in heaven
instead of the corridors of my wasted mind
searching for excuses i cannot find
i would justify my crimes to you
you never did any wrong and i’m sorry
sorry i have no answers
i would expose myself to my fears
i would meet you in heaven but i am lost
lost and lingering for absolution
