A Hungarian Affair

A deep sigh escaped her as she made her way down the last aisle. She began to curse her knowledge of things, since there was nothing in the place that she found interesting enough to read.

Just then she began to snicker at her self as an arrogant thought caught hold of her.

Am I truly an insufferable-know-it-all since I’ve read almost every book here??

But she brushed the idea out of her mind as she moved a piece of her hair from her vision.

After a few more moments of passing up more rows of books, she decided to give up the search and head back home. “Maybe next time,” she consoled herself. “Someone will turn in something new soon.”

As she made her way to the exit, her eye caught a rack that she hadn’t looked at before since she had been coming to the library. They were some small paperback books that sat on wire spin racks at the side of the room.

As she looked closer at the cover, she could tell, from the smuttiness, why she’d never perused this section. She looked up to the sign that hanged over the small area: Romance.

She huffed a little at the word, knowing she wouldn’t find any knowledge within its texts. But as she turned to leave, the glittery white of a paperback smile caused her to pause in mid step.

On the cover was a man dressed in a red imperial uniform. His hair was brown and slicked back and he sported a trim goatee, like her friend Viktor Krum. His smile was very sinister as he held a tight grip around a woman’s waist.

The woman in his grip wore a light violet dress that draped around her ivory skin. Her hair was thick and curly, like hers, and was all about her as if she were caught up in the whirlwind of his embrace.

As Hermione studied the cover, she noticed a third party on the front too. A lean but muscular man with bright red hair stood at the opposite end of her, firmly holding her arm. The woman (standing between both men) was looking desperately towards him. The girl and the red headed man stared at each other longingly as they tried to break free from the other man’s grip.

“She clearly wants to be with the red headed fellow. Not the man with the goatee.”

She read the book’s summary on the back of the then looked at the title.

A Hungarian Love Affair

“Sounds interesting,” she muttered as she made her way to the check out…with the book.
