Keith had always wanted his daughter to have an idyllic childhood. He'd wanted the fifties sitcom kind of life where they did the sorts of things that no one thought about doing with kids anymore. Like kite-flying. He'd always wanted to take his daughter kite-flying.
Then again, he'd wanted her to have a healthy mother, a nice home, stability, and friends. He'd wanted to have simple happiness for as long as he could give it to her.
But her mother was a drunk, he'd lost his job, they were living on the wrong side of the tracks, and when she'd lost Lilly, she'd lost everyone.
He had a dream that he took Veronica kite-flying after that. But no matter what they did, they just couldn't get it in the air.
Keith had wanted a lot for his daughter. But he couldn't give her much of anything at all.
