Pictures Worth More than Words

It was not a stroke of luck that she found the book. It was merely an accident, and like most accidents, she quickly regretted it.

They had gone to the moon to search for artifacts relating to their past. There were so many unanswered questions and incomplete memories. It was only natural that they would want a letter, a painting…

A book.

She tripped over it and immediately knew that she could not read it. The squiggles on the yellowing parchment meant nothing to her, but she looked anyway.

It was another ten pages before she found the picture.

It was exactly what they were looking for. It answered questions; it might have sparked memories…

Memories that were better left forgotten.

“We shouldn’t have come,” she whispered softly, wishing she could burn that yellow paper as easily as she could burn the image from her memory.

"Minako-chan?"

She slammed the book shut and turned to see Usagi calling to her from some distance away. She forced a smile and hoped that it was too far for her friend to see her tears. "Yup!"

"We're ready to go," Usagi explained, looking perfectly happy as always.

She nodded and set the book down, deciding to forget it ever happened. She knew deep down that it was better that she was the only one haunted by that image – Serenity’s Senshi and Endymion’s Guard.

Ace had told her she would always be alone. And so she would suffer that alone as well.
